ScotGrass was held at Crichton Royal Farms, Dumfries on Wednesday. The event attracted just under 3,000 visitors with some farmers arriving more than two hours before the official opening time!
However, with 7mm of rainfall the previous night and some further light rain on the morning itself, working demonstrations were delayed for over an hour. The positive impact however was the presence of some visitors who were unable to progress with silage at home. By 11.00 the sun had broken through and with a light breeze conditions were good enough for everyone to be given the ‘all clear’ to start machines working.
For the majority of the day visitors seemed to be well distributed around the site, and despite current market conditions there appeared to be good interest in the impressive array of working equipment, as well as in the static area.
CLAAS UK had a large plot in one of the lower fields and demonstrated the full line up of green harvest machines, tractors and Jaguars and had a constant stream of customers familiar and new, watching the machines in action.
